Mourinho Expects Veteran Striker It Can ‘Comeback’ Before 2018

Jose Mourinho thinks veteran striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic could be ready to return to Manchester United before the end of the year while Marcus Rashford has recovered from injury and will be fit to face Huddersfield Town this weekend

Ibrahimovic has been sidelined since last April after suffering a knee ligament injury but is again under the supervision of United’s medical team at Carrington. Mourinho has said in the past that Ibrahimovic will not return until next year. But the United manager has now revealed that his veteran striker can return to action early.

“Zlatan is here, he works here, under our control,” he told a news conference ahead of the game against Huddersfield.

“He works very hard, but he will not be back next week or a few weeks ahead, let him take time and come back when everyone feels it is the right time. Do I think he will come back in 2017? Yes, I think so. But that’s just my feeling, “he added.

Mourinho will have Marcus Rashford ready to face Huddersfield after the 19-year-old limped at the game against Benfica with a knee injury. But other players like Paul Pogba, Marouane Fellaini, Eric Bailly, Marcos Rojo and Michael Carrick will remain absent.

Mourinho added: “We have the same players as the match against Benfica. Everyone knows that every manager wants to have all his players available. That’s when the question arises about how I position myself in that. Sometimes teams that are not fully fit are good too. Not that I do not miss the players, I want them to be here for us. But we have a good team. ”

Despite a lot of injury problems, Manchester United still able to compete in the top Premier League standings thanks to the depth of their squad. Currently the Red Devils occupy the second position in the Premier League standings, with only two points behind Manchester City. (Source: ESPN)
